Kathryn Galvin

Vancouver Island artist, Kathryn Galvin is best known for her works in watercolour.  She is drawn to form, and the play of luminous light and shadow.  The amazing intricacy and depth of blossoms and flowers is a frequent theme.  If you have had the opportunity to visit her garden, you will see she has a wonderful source of inspiration.  Gardens are always on the top of her 'must see' destinations around the world.  She loves the immersive experience of negative painting.   Her travels have also inspired an interest in architectural and sculptural subjects: windows, doors, and arches.  Of late, she has been exploring still life.

Kathryn is an active status member of the Federation of Canadian Artists and has had paintings juried into FCA shows at the Granville Island FCA Gallery and in several FCA shows on Vancouver Island.  She is a past president of the Nanaimo Group of Artists and a founding member of the Hammond Bay Studio Tour.  While living in Calgary, she was a founding member of the prestigious Interpretations Art Group.  Her paintings hang in homes and offices across Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom and The United Arab Emirates.

Teaching was Kathryn's life work and she takes great joy in having former students attribute their love of creating to their school experiences.  Now, she teaches private and small group lessons to adults wanting to begin or to advance their work with watercolour.
